Today there are a lot of those 800 numbers you can call to order flowers to be sent "anywhere in the United States". They seem to offer better deals than the local flower shops, and it is true that many times a particular arrangement may be cheaper with them. BUT....then they charge you with all these fees like sir charges, and a standard delivery fee of $15 or so....and before you know it, that cheap arrangement ends up costing you more than if you would have called a local shop!! (see Valentine example at bottom of this page) AND HERE IS WHERE IT GETS INTERESTING!!! They get on the computer, and send it to none other than....A LOCAL FLOWER SHOP (us)!! AAANNNNDDD...they keep a third of the money for the arrangement PLUS all the fees...including that whopping $15 "delivery fee". No, it is really not a delivery fee, because what they tell us to do is subtract $8 off the price of the arrangement to cover delivery!!! Here is how it breaks down:
Say you ordered a $100 arrangement (that's easy for math purposes)
say $9 in tax
$4.95 sir charge (with some places)
And you are expecting $100 in flowers...right????.....WRONG!!!
They then send it to us for $100 total and tell us that $8 of that is for delivery (yes, that means you just paid $23 for delivery!!!)...and they only pay us ($71- $2 fee) $69 total. (we still try to give the customer what they paid for, but some shops will fill it for the ($71-$8-$2) $61 they get paid for it.
So you just paid that 800 service $28.95+$29=$57.95 to send it to a shop that you could have ordered direct from!!!
And if that is not enough for you...here are a few more benifits in calling us direct:
So, I hope you will make the decision to call us direct for your order. (if it is long distance, we can call you back...no problem!!) I guarantee you will be pleased with the service and product you recieve!!
Have a fabulous day!
I looked on one of those 800 sites today and they are running their Valentine roses for $10 off of the "regular price" of $79.99. Well, this aggrivates me because their regular price is not $79.99...we all know that roses go up at Valentine. It is not our fault...the growers charge over double, and so shops have to raise prices to help offset that. It is not the fact that their price went up that upsets me, it is that they "trick" they customer into thinking they are getting $10 off!!! Our prices have to go up too (which I HATE!) but we don't bump them up and extra $10 or so and then "pretend" to give you a deal.
So let's compare:
You pay $92.98
Forget Me Not:
You pay $86.72
*delivery $5-$7.50 in town and varies out of city depending on distance
*you must call us direct (417-782-5757), e-mail us direct (firstname.lastname@example.org) or come in to receive this special. Offer not available through 1-800-Flowers.
Your business is GREATLY appreciated!! Please let us know if there is ever a problem so that we may make it right!!
